Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Guéthénoc, croisé en 1190 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Guillaume, croisé en 1270 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois), marié à Adelice de Callac; Alain, évêque de Tréguier, mort en 1285; Jean, vice-chancelier de Bretagne, ambassadeur à Rome en 1420, fils de Pierre et d'Isabeau, dame de la Bouteveillaye; Jean, évêque de Tréguier, puis de Dol, mort en 1437, prenait les armes de la Bouteveillaye; Henry, aumônier du Roi et abbé de Saint-Gildas de Rhuis, mort en 1635; un abbé de Bellefontaine au diocèse de la Rochelle mort en 1704; des gouverneurs de places fortes, plusieurs chevaliers de Malte et conseillers au parlement depuis 1655; un chevalier de l'ordre en 1657; un maréchal de camp en 1651; un lieutenant-général des armées du Roi, mort en 1704; un président de la noblesse aux États de 1764; un chef de division de l'armée de Charette en 1795 et un évêque de Vannes en 1817 mort en 1826.
