Famiglia originaria da Serra Brunamonte, antico castello posto nelle vicinanze di Gubbio, e se ne ha memoria fin dal secolo XIII. Un Brunamonte fu capitano di ventura e strenuo difensore del partito ghibellino. Nel secolo XVIII si divise in più rami, ed ebbero il patriziato di Trevi, Assisi e Cingoli fin dal 1630. Oggi esistono due famiglie; e quella di Cannara e Perugia con la nobiltà di Cingoli. Ramo di Cingoli: La consulta Araldica fin dal 1906 riconobbe spettare a questo ramo il titolo di nobile di Cingoli (mf) per discendenza da Filippo (1792). Oggi è rappresentata da: Bruno di Giuseppe. Ramo di Trevi: La Consulta Araldica fin dal 1906 (Elenco nobiliare ufficiale) riconobbe spettare a questo ramo il titolo di nobile di Trevi (mf.) per discendenza da Angelo (1768). Oggi è rappresentata da: Alfonso di Angelo con la nipote Beatrice in Tarulli.

D'argento, al monte di tre cime di verde movente dalla punta, da cui sorge una pianta di rose al naturale, sormontata in capo da due stelle di sei raggi d'argento, fra le quali una cometa dello stesso.

G.B. di Crollalanza, edito presso la direzione del giornale araldico, Pisa 1888. Note: Siha memoria di un Angelo Brunamonti stabilito in Assisi nel 1223, il quale sembra sia stato il capostipite della famiglia che nel XVIII secolo fu ascritta al libro d'oro della nobiltà di Assisi.
