Familia Cagliari de origen ligur cuya información se remonta al siglo XVI. Eran comerciantes y se ocupaban de la explotación de las trampas de atún; A principios del siglo XVII habían alcanzado una posición económica considerable. Un Stefano se casó con un Rocamarti y en 1643 fue admitido en la estación militar durante el Parlamento de Avellano. En 1651 compró la tonnara de Portopaglia y obtuvo el título de caballero hereditario y nobleza. En 1670, su hijo Francesco compró, en la subasta de los feudos confiscados a Zatrillas, el condado de Cuglieri, que su hijo Domenico Giovanni vendió a los genoveses en 1706. El mismo Domenico Giovanni en 1712 reconoció la herencia del condado de Monteleone como El único heredero de la Rocamarti para mujeres.
