La famiglia Buccabella è antichissima Romana nè trovo origine forestiera. Riferisce il Camerario che nella investitura che fa Adriano 4° della metà di Frascati intervenne Pietro Buccabella del 1156. Del anno 1162 a tempo d'Alessando IV Oddon Francipane donò a Santa Maria nuova la tenuta chiamata la Molella; alla quale donazione per testimoni intervenne tra gli altri il nobiluomo Pietro Buccabella: nobiltà anche precedente a questa antichità. Riferisce il Petrone nel suo Diario che Papa Eugenio IV donò un sontuoso abito a 50 nobili Romani per ciascheduno tra quali fu Pietro Paulo Buccabella del Rione di Campidoglio. La Chiesa parrocchiale di San Biagio sotto Campidoglio pare fondata e fabbricata da questa famiglia, tante memorie ne tiene. Antiche historie raccolte da Gio. Pietro Scriniario romano notaro pubblico fatte dell'anno 1350 tra le altre memorie pone che la detta chiesa fosse fabbricata dalla famiglia delli Boccabelli qual memoria sta appresso il
