Non vi è chì neghi, che la famiglia di Bologna, non provenga da quegli della città d'Asisi, dove fu da questi riconosciuto quel sepolcro, che è nel Cimiterio della Chiesa di S. Francesco d'Asisi di Ventura di Rainaldo nel 1297. Con la sua arme di tre colli, e capi di Draghi in pietra rossa, vera insegna della nobilissima famiglia Dragona, come sepolcro de' loro proprj ascendenti, ed il tutto fecero per mano di Notaro. Dall'aver veduto noi tutti gli Archivj della città d'Asisi, abbiamo notato, che i Buoncompagni progenitori da quelli di Bologna, dimorarono in Asisi fin'al 1250. onde non prima di quest'anno in circa si possono trovare in Bologna. Si chè dunque, per venire alla dichiarazione dell'albero, secondo i precisati Scrittori, e scritture; Paolo figliuolo di Buoncompagno di Gio: dell'altro Paolo di Buoncompagno di Luitolfo, come si è da noi rimostrato nella famiglia Dragona, fu padre di Gio: che
