Originating in Gubbio, called Boni or Buoni; coming to Florence they obtained the priory twelve times. Carlo di Giovan Battista Bishop of Angouléme died in 1603. Over the centuries, families of the same name moved to various regions of Italy, from which they acquired their nobility and were welcomed there in the important offices of the city where they lived, one of them had per weapon: green with three red poles; to the golden band crossing all over, to the head of Anjou. Numerous authors of the family described events and characters, attributed various origins to it without any valid attestation. Modern historical criticism has, on the safe basis of the documents, accounted for the artificial genealogical reconstructions of those writers who, out of complacent spirit of flattery, demanded that this family descend from noble and ancient prosapias like that of other families.
