It seems that they originated from Colle in Valdelsa, but we find them early in Siena, where in 1250 Ugo was rector of the Spedale della Scala. In 1277 ser Giovanni di Paganello was the promoter of the proposal for the exclusion of the great from the government, which was approved by the Senate. In 1288 Uguccio di Orlando was administrator of the Municipality and in 1289 Niccolò di Bonifazio was one of the ambassadors to Charles II; here we see how in this era the family was already very powerful, with many members of it in offices of notable importance. In 1403, in the reform of the government of the Republic, Niccolò was found, who in the same year was sent on an embassy together with Cardinal Cossa. Buoninsegni, Boninsegni
