Famiglia nobile, della quale un Pietro Francesco è questore nel 1561. Il figlio di lui, Lodovico, cavaliere di S. Stefano di Toscana, nel 1590, da Giulia d'Adda ebbe Erasmo, che sposò Margherita Langosco: da essi nacque Lodovico, che nel 1659 fu investito del feudo di Lomagna, sul quale appoggiò il titolo marchionale per maschi primogeniti ottenuto con diploma 21 aprile 1661 da Filippo IV, re di Spagna e duca di Milano. Il figlio suo, Carlo, ascritto al patriziato milanese, dei LX decurioni nel 1682, prese in moglie Maria Isimbardi, dalla quale ebbe Lodovico, pure decurione nel 1691, marito di Bianca Arconati. Da essi provennero: Carlo, decurione nel 1756, I.R. Ciambellano nel 1771, che con decreto 18 gennaio 1773 del Tribunale Araldico ottenne la delineazione dello stemma nel Codice Araldico; Ignazio (1731-1803), che percorse la carriera prelatizia, fu decorato della porpora nel 1789 e fu cardinale segretario di Stato
