Antica e nobile famiglia tedesca, originaria della Sassonia, di chiara e ancestrale virtù, che si è diffusa in tutto il mondo nel corso dei secoli, con insediamenti principali in Slesia, Danimarca e Posnania. Secondo quanto è stato tramandato, questa famiglia, come ricompensa per i preziosi servizi resi a Carlo IV, imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero, fu ammessa nella "Breve" (lett. "Lettera della nobiltà"), la cosiddetta nuova nobiltà come contrapposto a "Uradel", un termine coniato solo nei tempi moderni, in riferimento a famiglie nobili la cui discendenza ancestrale può essere fatta risalire a prima del Medioevo. Tuttavia questa famiglia ricevette la conferma della sua nobiltà il 29 giugno 1811. Le prime tracce lasciate dalla famiglia risalgono al XV secolo, con un Hans, esperto botanico, fiorente nel 1429.
