Famiglia originaria di Cassine, diede un capitano di milizie, Gaudenzio, padre di Giuseppe, il quale sposò ad Alessandria, il 28 ottobre 1828, Maria Felicita Moscheni, sorella di Francesco, ultimo marchese di Bergamasco. Poiché le investiture di Bergamasco erano per maschi e una femmina, Maria Felicita portò in casa l'eredità nobiliare che fu riconosciuta ai figli (escluso il predicato di Bergamasco) per LL. PP. di R. Assenso 28 gennaio 1892. Giuseppe, di Francesco, di Giuseppe, di Gaudenzio. Fratelli: Pio, Alessandro, Angelo. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, in occasione dei tornei, e durante i tornei stessi.
