Questa famiglia è di origine greca. Fu portata in Regno nel 1272 da un Giovanni che fu chiamato nobilis vir, il quale venne Ambasciatore per l'Imperatore Emmanuello Comneno di Costantinopoli al Re Carlo I d'Angiò, e nel 1298 fu eletto dal Re Carlo II per ricevere la mostra dei Baroni del Regno. Questa famiglia à goduto nobiltà nella città di Bari nel Seggio, in Gallipoli, Taranto ed Oyra. Il ramo di Gallipoli si estinse nel 1760 in Fausto Sacerdote. Questa famiglia nel 1805, in esecuzione della prammatica del 1800, come appartenente alla Piazza chiusa di Bari, fu ascritta ai Registri della nobiltà del Regno di Napoli. Un Ladislao per avere sposato una signora di Bitonto, stabilì in questa città la sua famiglia, la quale si diramò anche in Acquaviva, Alessano, Brindisi, Modugno ed Ostuni. Un ramo di questa famiglia si estinse negli Albuquerque e nei Sylos di Bitonto. Sorgevano Monumenti
