Agustin y Catalina de Vargas hermanos, naturales de Jerez de la Frontera, solteros, hijos de Juan López de C. y de María de Vargas, emprendieron viaje a Nueva España el 21 junio 1578 desde el puerto de Sevilla, según consta en el Archivo General de Indias. Hay en España distintas casas Cabra. Desde muy remotos siglos fué conocida y muy considerada. Los historiadores hacen notar acertadamente que no todos los linajes de este apellido tienen un origen común. Lo encontramos en Jerez de la Frontera. Las armas más antiguas son las señaladas en: Catálogo de pasajeros a Indias siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII. Vol. VI M. del Carmen Galbis Díez Ministerio de Cultura Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispánica - letras A-B-C-CH Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent Instituto Salazar y Castro. Los de Jerez de la Frontera traen: En sinople, una cabra de plata mirando al cantón diestro del jefe. Otros traen: En oro, un árbol de sinople, rodeando de cinco panelas de sinople. Bordura de gules con ocho aspas de oro.
