El Primitivo origen de la familia Cabrera, se inicia en los antiguos Monarcas godos, en rama formada por el Principe Don Osorio, primo, compañero y Caudillo del Rey Don Pelayo. La Casa de Cabrera en Canarias está formada por Alonso de Cabrera, hijo de Fernando Diaz de Cabrera, sexto Señor de las Torres de Arias Cabrera, Caballero de la Orden de Santiago, Embajador extraordinario del REy Don Enrique III al Rey moro de Granada y Conquistadór de Antequera. Alonso de Cabrera y su muyer Doña María de Solier, vecinos de la ciudad de Córdoba, tuvieron varios hijos, dos de los cuales sirvieron en la conquista de Canarias. Uno de éstos, Diego de Cabrera el Viejo, fue vecino de la villa de Arévalo, casó con Catalina Pérez de Ocampo y tuvo en ella a otro Diego de Cabrera, Conquistador de Canarias. Este casó en Lanzarote con Doña Francisca Melián de Bethencourt.
