Illustre famiglia che diramò largamente a Novara, Milano, Piacenza, Firenze ed altrove. Un Luca, novarese, fu ascritto nel 1670 alla nobiltà romana; altri di altro ramo ebbero dopo la riforma del 1589, il patriziato alessandrino; un ramo stabilitosi a Parigi, finì col ten. generale e balì di Malta, Massimiliano, morto a Roma nel 1891. Numerosi i cavalieri gerosolimitani; numerosi i personaggi insigni della casata, nei vari rami di Romentino, Varallo, Pombia, Arona, Celtignaga, Landiona, Sillavengo, Camiano, ecc. Estinti i più; fiorenti tuttavia i rami di Romentino, di Sillavengo e di Varallo Pombia. Ramo di Varallo Pombia. Conte (mpr); nobile (mf:) per il patriziato novarese, dimora Milano. La linea trae inizio da Ercole che sposava nel 1590 Anna Nibbia. Remoto loro discendente è quel Giuseppe Angelo Francesco (n. Novara, 31 maggio 1789; che entrato nella carriera delle finanze vi raggiunse i sommi gradi di Primo ufficiale delle finanze (24 settembre 1831)
