ca e nobile famiglia del Regno di Napoli, detta Caiazzo o Caiazza, la quale ha tratto il proprio nome dall'omonima città, di cui è fama che ne fosse, anticamente, Signora, prima di passare in Capua, ove esercitò tutti i primari pubblici governi. I di lei primi personaggi, di cui si ha memoria, sono un Raimondo ed il di lui figlio, i quali, sotto Re Guglielmo II, risultano annoverati tra i Baroni dell'epoca. In altre scritture capuane si legge di un certo Goffredo, vivente nel 1277, il quale possedeva numerosi feudi in Capua, padre di Niccolò, nobiluomo ed eloquente oratore capuano, e di Matteo. Da Niccolò, suddetto, pervennero, tra gli altri, Vincenzo, Goffredo e Roberto. Vincenzo militò sotto Romano Orsini, con una compagnia di cavalli, di cui fu capitano, comprò alcuni territori nella città di Nocera e, per ordine del medesimo Romano, eresse la Chiesa e Badia di San
