Antiguo linaje originario de Vizcaya, con casas y ramas muy nobles en Álava, la Rioja, Córdoba, Granada y República de Colombia. Del solar de Vizcaya descendió: Lope Ochoa de C., gran caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, que pasó a Córdoba en el siglo XIV, y casó en dicha ciudad con doña Juana García de los Ríos (hija de Diego Gutiérrez de los Ríos, Señor de Fernández Núñez y Alférez mayor de Córdoba, y de su mujer doña Inés Alfonso de Montemayor), naciendo de esa unión estos hijos: Inés López de C., que casó con Alfonso Fernández de Montemayor, Señor de Albendén y Montalbán, del que no tuvo sucesión; y Lope Ochoa de C., segundo del nombre, que sigue. Este Lope Ochoa de C., segundo del nombre, contrajo matrimonio con doña Aldonza Alfonso de Valenzuela (hija de Alfonso Fernández de Valenzuela, octavo Señor de Valenzuela y Regidor de Baeza,
