La comune provenienza milanese, e la identità dello stemma farebbero pensare ad una identità di origine fra questa casa e l'altra dello stesso nome; ma in assenza di sicure prove documentarie, non intendiamo affermarlo in via assoluta. Ascritta sino dal 1548 alla nobiltà di Udine coll'ingresso nel consiglio nobile di Girolamo, questa famiglia fu insignita dal Senato veneto, del titolo di conte di Tissano nella persona del Dott. Giacomo, rinomato Professore di leggi allo Studio di Padova. Confermata nei suoi titoli con S.R.A. 28 febbr. 1821, venne in essa riconosciuta dal Governo Italiano e compresa nell'El. Uff. nella persona di Nicolò, di Giacomo, ultimo di sua stirpe. Nel sec. XIX il ramo del suddetto Giacomo aggiunse al proprio il cognome dell'estinta famiglia dei Conti Dragoni quale erede della Contessa Giulia Dragoni, moglie del Conte Eusebio Caino. La famiglia C. contrasse matrimoni con le seguenti famiglie nobili: del Merlo, Raimondi, Amasei,
