Antigua familia Messinese llamada Calabro o Calbrò que dio a la patria senadores del orden cívico, entre ellos Vincenzo en 1648, 1656, 1659 y 1664; Giuseppe en 1666 y 1669; otro Giuseppe en 1714. Domenico fue diputado de salud en la peste de Messina en 1743 y cónsul del mar en 1750, como lo confirma Galluppi en sus obras: Estado actual de la nobleza de Messina (1881), impreso en Milán por Bernardoni en 1881 ; Noble de la ciudad de Messina, impreso en Nápoles en 1878; L'Armerista Italiano, impreso en Milán en 1872. Otra familia Calabro florece en Provenza (Francia) y levanta la misma arma y esto confirma la expansión internacional de la familia.
