Familia noble veneciana, con residencia en la ciudad de Padua, llamada Calbo o Calbor, que, según algunos cronistas venecianos, descendería de ese dux Maurizio Galbaio o Galonio, elegido en 764, de cuyos descendientes se originaron muchas familias nobles, como Querini, el Canali y, precisamente, el Calbo o Calbor. Esta familia, como se mencionó anteriormente, se mudó de Padua en el año 891 a su hogar permanente en Venecia. Al cierre del concilio mayor, en 1297, fue considerado entre los patricios y descrito en el Libro de Oro. Dio a la patria, a todas las edades, temas de gran mérito, tanto en armas como en las "oficinas" internas, que apoyaban las oficinas principales de los senadores y procuradores de San Marco.
