Une ancienne famille, originaire du Pérou, appelée Calderon ou Calderone, qui fut décorée, par concession souveraine de 1872, du titre de comte, en la personne d'Andrea, qui s'occupait des affaires de ce lieu. Autre branche. Ancienne famille sicilienne, originaire d'Espagne, selon ce que rapporte Galluppi, qui jouissait de la noblesse à Messine et à Baucina, depuis le XVe siècle. Un Francesco, en effet, acheta la baronnie de Baucina, dont il fut investi le 22 février 1760. Ce titre fut confirmé, à un autre Francesco, di Salvatore, dudit Francesco, le 26 octobre 1810 tandis que, en 1922, cette famille a été inscrite sur la liste officielle des nobles italiens. La présence de la devise, dans la bibliographie documentée de la famille, confirme également la noblesse ancestrale de la famille. Devise familiale : Bene docet. La famille a pris les armes. D'argent, au chaudron de rouge, tenu par deux lions, naturels, contre-levés
