Famiglia bergamasca, investita del titolo comitale di Calepio dall'imperatore Federico Barbarossa ed ebbe dal doge di Venezia Francesco Foscari la giurisdizione della valle Caleppiana che venne poi riconfermata da Luigi XII re di Francia, nel 1509. Conta fra i suoi personaggi: Niccolino comandante dei comuni delle riviere bergamasca e bresciana e quel Giacomo autore del noto dizionario Calepino. Giuseppe nel 1905 ottenne il riconoscimento del titolo comitale e l'iscrizione nel Libro d'oro della nobiltà Italiana. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco ufficiale nobiliare in persona di detto Giuseppe di Camillo, di Giuseppe, delle sorelle: Maria in Martinoni e Luisa in Ghislotti; nonchè la cugina Maria, di Andrea, di Camillo, in Ricotti.
