Se prestar fede si potesse alle attestazioni di un certificato, rilasciato da un notaio archivista del pubblico archivio della Comunità di Modena in forma autentica il 4 maggio 1751, le origini indubitate della famiglia Calori risalirebbero al sec. XI. Infatti ivi vien riportato, fedelmente "de verbo ad verbum" come è detto nell'autenticazione notarile, un atto del 19 febbr. 1208 contenuto nei libri dei memoriali notarili, col quale il capitano don Diego del fu don Pietro "rezedoris de Calhorra Civitate Hispaniarum", nella bella età d'anni 88, riconoscè di aver ricevuto lire 350 dal nob. Iacopino Rangone solvente a titolo di dote della propria figlia Imelda sposa di Pietro figlio del predetto don Diego. Senonchè tal e documento ed altri ancora del sec. XIII che si trovano riprodotti nel libercolo "Discendenza delli nob. Signori Bartolomeo e Carlo Guido viventi fratelli co. Calori, ecc.". stampato in Roma l'anno 1751, altro non sono che
