Antica ed assai nobile famiglia famiglia lombarda da Cremona propagata anche nel territorio veneto il cui stemma è conservato negli archivi di stato di Cremona. Altra famiglia. Antica e nobile famiglia emiliana da Bologna, probabilmente della medesima agnazione della precedente. L’appartenenza della famiglia alla parte guelfa si evince dal capo d'Angiò dello stemma. Si ritiene che l'origine di questo antico cognome derivi dal mestiere di un ignoto capostipite e che sia in qualche modo collegato anche alle congregazioni Omonime.
