Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la campaña contra el Islam acompañando las huestes de D. Alfonso señor de Molina y hermano de Fernando III el Santo rey de Castilla, en la batalla de los campos de Jerez en 1231 contra Aben Hud. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de las tropas de la flota de D. Francisco de Luxán o Luján, que en 1567 derrotaron a los barcos de John Hawkins en San Juan de Ulúa, pero en la que desgraciadamente logró escapar Sir Francis Drake a bordo del barco "Judith".
