Camillo Paolo Filippo Giulio Benso, conde de Cavour, Isolabella y Leri, nació en Turín el 10 de agosto de 1810, en una familia de la antigua nobleza piamontesa, de origen Saboya. Su familia descendía de la familia Benso, que llegó a Italia después de Federico Barbarroja y los banqueros activos en la Edad Media, en Chieri.
