Derivado da família Ubaldini. Com o título de viscondes, ele fez a terra com o mesmo nome e dominou San Cassiano no território de Orvieto. Ele tinha Cavaleiros de Gerosolimitani e de Santo Stefano, uma ordem fundada por Cosimo I de 'Medici em 15 de março de 1562, imitando a de Gerosolimitano, com o duplo objetivo de defender o comércio da Itália no Mar Tirreno da pirataria de Barbary e libertar a Cristãos da escravidão ao poder otomano. A visita às suas marinas escreve que o historiador Galluzzi fez Cosimo conhecer a importância e a necessidade de observá-los pelas incursões dos turcos.
