Antica e nobile famiglia originaria del Trentino. Mattia conte Galasso di Campo, signore di Friedland e Reichenberg, duca di Lucera, generalissimo dell'impero, nato nel 1584, morto nel 1647. Di questa famiglia non si hanno più notizie dal 1757 con la morte del conte Filippo, ultimo della stirpe. Numerosi autori della famiglia descrissero eventi e personaggi, attribuirono ad essa varie origini senza alcuna valida attestazione. La moderna critica storica ha, sulla scorta sicura dei documenti, fatto ragione delle artificiose ricostruzioni genealogiche di quegli scrittori che, per compiacente spirito d'adulazione, pretesero far discendere questa famiglia da nobili e antiche prosapie come quella di altre famiglie. Il commendatore G.B. di Crollalanza, nella sua opera " il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico, opera che in vari decenni e con l'aiuto di altri storici ne ha rintracciato l'esistenza veritiera sulla scorta di documenti e ricerche effettuate nei secoli passati.
