Ancienne et très noble famille italienne, de vertu claire et ancestrale, qui s'est répandue dans le monde entier, au cours des siècles. Les premières traces laissées par la famille se trouvent dans le Trentin où la famille possédait le château de Campo, d'où le nom. Pietro, fils d'Alberto, pour quelques controverses avec l'évêque de Trente, fut exilé et s'installa à Vérone avec sa famille, au XIVe siècle. Ici, la famille a été agrégée à ce noble Conseil et a obtenu, de l'évêque, le droit de dîme sur certains pays et, de Francesco Erizzo Doge de Venise, le titre de comte de Castelvero. Une autre branche familiale a prospéré à Rovigo, où a été attribuée au Conseil Noble en 1496.
