El origen de este apellido se pierde en el tiempo. Existe un apellido Calcina, asturiano, cuyas armas son diferentes al que comentamos. El linaje Cancines existía ya en Canarias en 1630, según se desprende de la partida de casamiento de Capitán Simón Gonzalez C., con doña Catalina de Valderrama y Tapia, que figura en el Libro I, fol. 12, celebrando en Gádar el 30 de septiembre de dicho año. La familia de este apellido se deriva de un conquistador de Lanzarote, llamdo Simón Rodríguez Sánchez que casó con Catalina Gonzalez Calderón y tuvieron a Benito y Juana Sánchez. Este Benito Sánchez casó con Ana Rodríguez y tuvieron por hijo, entre otros, a Domingo Ramos C. o C., que fue Ministro de la Inquisición de estas islas y casó con María de Vera, de cuyo enlace nació Estaben Ramos C.
