La famiglia è estinta nei maschi e il titolo feudale è finito. I membri della famiglia, originari di Pavia, poi in Casale, hanno memorie risalenti al principio del secolo XVI; epoca in cui si formano i due rami: quello, estinto e comitale, di Milano, e quest'altro, pure estinto e comitale di Piemonte. Nel 1647, Giovanni Ambrogio è investito di Montù de' Gabbi: nel 1778, Paola Curione, moglie di Ambrogio, è investita di Olivola col comitato, come erede di casa sua, onde il figlio, conte Luigi prende a dirsi C. Curioni. Il nipote ex-filio di Luigi, di nome Camillo (nato a Olivola, 11 ottobre 1841), contrammiraglio e senatore del Regno (21 novembre 1901), comandò con gloria e prudenza la spedizione armata in Cina (1901).
