Ancienne et illustre famille frioulane, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie et d'Autriche. L'origine de ce patronyme se trouve dans le personnel "Candidus", plus précisément dans la variante "Candùs, Candussio". Selon ce qui nous est transmis, la famille a été déclarée noble au XVIe siècle mais elle est rappelée même à des époques antérieures. Le noyau principal du Candusso se trouvait dans la région d'Udine, en particulier à Ragogna, où il apparaît avec assiduité depuis le recensement de 1880. Mais nous trouvons d'autres colonies plus anciennes également à Cividale, San Daniele et Maiano. En Carinthie, la famille Candussi a prospéré. En 1464 on trouve mention de "Hiob Candussi (de) Leonardi etiam de dicta villa Sup (er) iori" de Tramonti di Sopra tandis qu'en Carnia la famille de Candussi di Nonta était connue, aujourd'hui éteinte, dont nous avons des nouvelles du 12 août
