Count Luigi di Francesco Trotti, dying without children in 1831, called to succeed him, in execution of his father's wishes, Pellegrino and Teresa d'Antonio, sons of his sister Maria Giovanna, with the obligation to assume the surname and the Trotti coat of arms. From then on, the second surname came into peaceful possession of this branch of the family, and this addition recently obtained legal confirmation by a decree of the Court of Forlì on July 29, 1886. Teresa married the lawyer. Paolo Ghedini of Bologna (1801-1877).
