Apellido de origen genovés, que vino a la Conquista de Canaria, según nos relata Cairasco en su célebre poema del "Templo Militante", cuando nombra a los Conquistadores: "Cobos y Riberoles y Caninos, Veintemitllas, Añases, Nussios, Imperiales y Franques y Lercaros". Aparece este apellido desde los primeros tiempos unido a la historia de Canarias, como se desprende le Lagajo 1.663, cuaderno 3.° y folios 408-415, donde se cita al Licenciado Don Antonio C. de Veyntemille, abogado de la Real Audiencia de esta isla de Canaria y a José Espinosa C., Alguacil Mayor del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición. También se cita al licenciado Don Pedro de C, como Inquisidor desde 1597 a 1603, a José Spínola C., Fiscal Receptor en 1649 y Notario en 1652.
