Il Galluppi, parlando di questa famiglia scrive:; "La genealogia di casa Mannamo rimonta al secolo XV, essendo stato suo capostipite un Nicola vivente nell'anno 1400, consorte di Angela, della quale ignoriamo il cognome. Con costei procreò Giovanni Mannamo, che in tutte le scritture di quell'epoca vien qualificato coi predicati d'onore di nobile, magnifico ed egregio, che s'accordavano solo a persone ragguardevoli e distinte "Domenico Fortunato Carlo Mannamo ed Aquilone ebbe dal duca di Massa a 27 settembre 1728 la dignità di gentiluomo della corte ducale; con privilegio 21 maggio 1728, il senato di Messina dichiarò nobile la famiglia in persona di Francesco, figlio del dottor Melchiorre, il quale ultimo fu giudice del tribunale della R.Udienza e pubblicò "La vita e virtù del venerabile servo di Dio monsignor Don Antonio Franco, Abbate ed ordinario della deliziosa città di S. Lucia, cappellano maggiore di S.M. in questo Regno di Sicilia. Messina, Giuseppe
