Ancient and noble Tuscany House, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. According to what has been handed, this family is originally from San Miniato from where it moved to Pistoia. Furthermore, its members are considered to be of the same lineage as the Cavalcanti and the Cancellieri. Cantino, of Amadore Cavalcanti, thanks to the Cerchi family, was elected captain of Pistoia in the year 1300; Cancellieri, of Cantino, had a considerable part in the Black and White Guelphs factions; Domenico, in the year 1490, left the last name of the progenitors and took for himself and his descendants the one of Cantini. The same, with two hundred soldiers from Pistoia, went to the aid of Giovanni Bentivoglio, who wanted to claim the lordship of Bologna.
