This family, called Capani or Capano, originated in Cilento, where they find memories of it since the time of Henry VI. He enjoyed nobility in the cities of Naples in the seat of Nido, Salerno in the seat of Portaretese, S. Pietro in Galatina, and in Cilento. A branch of the Capani or Capano died out in his brothers Alfonso and Pietro who were killed by thieves, in their own house located near the Church of San Severino.
