Família do sul antiga e muito nobre, da qual há memórias claras nas regiões napolitanas, de acordo com De Nicastro, desde o século XI. No período da Suábia, foi contado entre as famílias feudais e um Tommaso, partidário do rei Manfredi, sofreu o confisco de todos os seus bens de Carlos I de Anjou. Mais tarde Giovanni e Roberto foram criados cavaleiros; Peter tesoureiro do Reino (1275); Josué, que foi sepultado na Igreja de S. Chiara (1323), lutou com o rei Roberto na Lombardia.
