Famiglia che credesi originata da Galeotto, vivente nel 1170 figlio del gran contestabile Enrico. Godette sin dai più antichi tempi nobiltà a Napoli nel seggio di Capuana, fu ricevuta nell'ordine di Malta dal 1636 e decorata dei titoli di conte di Terranova commesso a Luigi nel 1428, principe di Monasterace a Giuseppe nel 1628; duca della Regina a Fabio, presidente della R. camera della Sommaria e reggente del supremo Consiglio d'Italia sotto Filippo III, duca di S. Angelo a Fasanella concesso a Giacomo, decano del Consiglio di Stato, nel 1664. Per successione della famiglia Tocco Cantelmo Stuart fu decorata dei seguenti altri titoli: principe di Montemiletto (1608); principe di Acaia (confermato nel 1642); duca di Apice (1590); conte di Montaperto (1587), titoli riconosciuti coi Decreto Ministeriale 15 febbraio 1888 ed 8 marzo 1889. Linea dei duchi della Regina: Decorata dei suddetti titoli e del titolo di patrizio napoletano. S'é estinta
