Familia muy antigua y noble, llamada Capitani o Capitanei, originaria de Locarno, que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia donde, recibidos en las importantes oficinas de las ciudades donde vivían, sus miembros eran notorios y adquirieron nobleza. La cognición deriva del grado que tenían los antiguos individuos de esta familia en Valtellina y Val di Scalve. Tenían importancia histórica en esas partes; Eran las primarias de Sondrio y Bérgamo, y Asalonne de 'C., que estaba en la corte de Bianca-Maria y tenía la ciudadanía milanesa, vino de Bérgamo a Milán. Inquartato; nel primo d'azzurro, a sette corone marchionali al naturale, ordinate 1, 2, 1, 2 e 1; nel secondo d'argento, a tre fascie scaccate di nero e d'argento di tre file, con sei busti d'uomini con cappello in testa, nascenti dalle fascie, posti di fronte, tre dalla superiore, due dalla media, ed uno dall'inferiore, vestito di rosso; nel terzo d'argento, a quattro gigli d'oro, per inchiesta, 1, 2 ed 1; nel quarto d'azzurro, ad un monte o rupe al naturale, movente dalla punta dello scudo a destra alla metà del fianco sinistro, con un sole d'oro orizzontale al canton destro del capo; sul tutto d'oro, all'aquila di nero coronata del campo; lo scudetto timbrato da corona comitale. Cimiero: Una figura di donna vestita di rosso con cappello o tocco in testa dello stesso, posta di fronte, nascente, la mano sinistra appoggiata all'arca, ed impugnante colla destra una lancia in banda.
