Antica ed assai nobile famiglia di Napoli, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Celebre fu Domenico Capitelli, per le sue benemerenze patriottiche. Nato a San Tammaro (Terra di Lavoro), fu avvocato di grido, presidente del Parlamento napoletano nel breve periodo costituzionale del 1848 e grande perseguitato politico. Morì nel 1854. Una strada di Napoli, non lontana dall'edificio ove ebbe sede il Parlamento napoletano, ricorda il suo nome. Suo figlio Guglielmo (1840-1907), sindaco di Napoli nel 1869, ebbe l'alto onore di tenere al sacro fonte S.A.R. il principe di Napoli. E proprio in tale occasione, con decreto 18 novembre 1869, Sua Maestà il re d'Italia Vittorio Emanuele II si compiacque di concedere al detto Guglielmo il titolo trasmissibile di conte. Note: l'interpretazione del blasone del Crollalanza è poco specifica, il capitello potrebbe essere partito d'oro e di rosso, probabilmente si tratta di un alias; lo Spreti lo blasona bianco senza incertezze.
