Antiga e nobre família de Messina. Dos barões de Diesi e Mulotta. O comendador GB de Crollalanza relata o brasão desta família nos volumes de seu dicionário histórico de brasões de famílias nobres e notáveis italianas. Segundo o historiador Diligenti que em sua "História das ilustres famílias italianas, pelo cuidado e despesa do editor", publicada em Florença, constatamos que esta família é de origem puramente italiana, espalhada por várias cidades. Da obra "Coleção das famílias mais ilustres e nobres que outrora existiram e que ainda florescem na Itália, extraída do Teatro Heráldico publicado em Lodi em 1841, menciona-se que a família originária da Sicília, apesar do esquecimento em que caiu, suportou as provas para obter a nobreza em sua cidade.. Claramente chegou à Sicília um fidalgo que se entregou aos serviços militares do imperador Frederico II, tendo desfrutado anteriormente dos maiores deveres de seu país.
