Según lo transmitido, la familia es del mismo linaje de la noble familia Capra de Vicenza. El apellido parcialmente diferente es atribuible a errores en la tradición del manuscrito. Con el dux veneciano el 25 de marzo de 1552, el caballero Marco, de Francesco, fue creado conde por los grandes servicios prestados al estado. Francesco, Vincenzo y otros consortes fueron decorados con los títulos de Condes y Caballeros de los emperadores Federico III, Carlos V y Rudolf II. La República de Venecia en 1734 se inscribió en esta familia con el título de Conde. Una rama de esta familia tenía el título de marqués, otorgado por el emperador Fernando III con diploma el 24 de febrero de 1648.
