Segundo o que foi transmitido, a família é da mesma linhagem da nobre família Capra de Vicenza. O sobrenome parcialmente diferente é atribuível a erros na tradição do manuscrito. Com o Doge veneziano, em 25 de março de 1552, o cavaleiro Marco, de Francesco, foi criado conde pelos grandes serviços prestados ao estado. Francesco, Vincenzo e outros consortes foram condecorados com os títulos de condes e cavaleiros dos imperadores Frederico III, Carlos V e Rudolf II. A República de Veneza, em 1734, se matriculou nessa família com o título de conde. Um ramo desta família tinha o título de marquês, concedido pelo imperador Fernando III com diploma em 24 de fevereiro de 1648. A Resolução Soberana Austríaca de 1º de março de 1820 confirmou a nobreza de Antonio, de Gabriele, e Girolamo Giampaolo, de Francesco. Outro ramo.
