Antica e nobile famiglia bresciana alla quale furono attribuite lontane origini non comprovate da fonti sicure. Capriolo é un borgo sulla sinistra dell'Oglio in territorio bresciano donde provennero varie famiglie di questo nome e, tra le altre nel 1265 quella di un Giovanni, detto Ugetto, Oreste e Lottarigo detto Tartarino, fratelli che si stabilirono in Brescia. Sul principio del secolo XV un secondo Tartarino, figlio di Pricino (Pietro), fu camerlengo del Duca Filippo Maria Visconti durante la sua effimera signorìa di Brescia, ma poi giuró fede al dominio veneto; infatti lo si trova presente in Venezia nel 1429 in rappresentanza della cittá alla solenne infeudazione al Carmagnola delle terre di Chiari e Roccafranca. Ebbe parecchi figli tra i quali: Guglielmo che nel 1438 venne fatto prigioniero dal Picinino nel Castello degli Orzi; Antonio autore di un ramo che ebbe molto splendore e che finí nel secolo XVI, e Bartolomeo, Dottore
