Antica e nobile famiglia di Messina. Nella mastra nobile del Mollica troviamo, inoltre, un fra Giovanni Caprioni (anni 1590 e 1591) ed un messer Giovan Battista (anni 1596 e 1602). Un Tommaso, invece, pare fosse governatore della Tavola pecuniaria di Messina nel 1612-13, carica tenuta nell?anno 1630-31 da un Francesco; un Giovan Domenico fu giudice della corte straticoziale di Messina nel 1620-21 e senatore di detta città nel 1632-33. Che i membri della famiglia Caprioni siano noncuranti delle cose volgari, ripromettendosi dalle sole loro energie la dovuta ricompensa, lo provano i documenti fino ad oggi conosciuti come il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico del commendatore G.B. di Crollalanza che ne ha raccolte le tracce lasciate dalla famiglia in quelle città ove ebbe dimora ricoprendo cariche legislative, militari o altro, contribuendo non poco alla riuscita di quei documenti utili alla scoperta di questa famiglia.
