Nobilissima casa feudale calabra, di origine normanna, la cui filiazione autentica rimonta per diretta linea maschile a Guglielmo C., signore del Castello di Simari in Calabria Ulteriore nell'anno 1120, il quale fece cospicue donazioni dei suoi beni alla storica Cerosa di S. Brumone in Calabria. Divisa in piú rami, dei quali il principale é quello attualmente rappresentato dai Baroni di Letino, questa casa ha posseduto numerosi feudi in quella regione e nel mantovano, e ha dato alla patria dall'epoca normanna e sotto le successive dinastie prodi soldati ed uomini di governo, tra i quali sono da ricordarsi principalmente: Fra Pietro, cavaliere dell'ordine dei Templari nel 1269; i capitani Rinaldo e Guglielmo, cui il Re Carlo I d'Angió nell'anno 1279 concesse il castello di Casal dei Còmiti; Raimondo, dominus et nobilis vir, governatore di Gaeta nel 1297 sotto Carlo II, indi castellano di S. Giorgio e di Calanda, eletto in seguito
