Il Ciaccone, nella vita di Gregorio VIII, riferisce che ad istanza de' Romani fu fatto Cardinale Antonio Arcioni, nobilissimo Romano delli 1405; che sopravisse poco dopo che, altro non si sa li lui, che fu Cardinale e sepolto in Santa Maria Maggiore, nella Cappella di San Girolamo con un epitaffio, corroso dall'antichità eternato però nelli Comentariij e Trilvutij, e che minutamente riferisce de Angelis nella descrizione della Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore alla detta cappella fu demolita quanto si fece quella di Sisto V, il quale operò volle nella medesima sua Cappella rifare l'altra di San Girolamo senza far menzione degli Arcioni. Si vedono però due lapidi sepolcrali grandi con figure intiere delineate con marmi degli Arcioni. Dice il Ciaccone, che la casa degli Arcione era nelle terme di Costantino al tempo mio indegnamente convertite in una casa privata, ove per la memoria del Benefattore conveniva conservarle e ristorarle; o
