Antica famiglia fiorentina, passata in Venezia, anteriormente al XIV secolo e propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La tradizione vuole che capostipite certo, di tal casato, sia quel Marco Malacarne, ricordato per aver messo una nave gratuitamente a disposizione dei pellegrini che andavano a Gerusalemme, il quale fu soprannominato "Marcon", per la sua robusta corporatura. In ogni modo, agli albori del '400, un ramo della famiglia, che abitava nel castello di Camino, si stabilì in Treviso, e da essa, forse, uscì il pittore Rocco M., allievo del Bellini ed assai lodato per la finezza del suo colorire e disegnare. I Carconi di Venezia, invece, si dedicarono specialmente alle operazioni postali, compiute dai così detti Corrieri, che formarono una corporazione privilegiata, e che avevano un altare proprio nella chiesa di S.
