Famiglia di Benevento, la cui filiazione risale a Giulio, vivente in Benevento, nel XVI secolo e che venne aggregata al Patriziato di Benevento nel 1695. Usa la medesima arma della storica famiglia C., di origene spagnuola, Conti di Avellino nel Regno di Napoli, il cui ramo primogenito si estinse in Maria C., contessa di Avellino e marchesa di Paduli, che sposó Francesco d'Este dei Duchi di Ferrara, e morí senza lasciare discendenti. E la medesima arma usarono la Nobile famiglia C. di Sicilia, i C. di Camerino ed Cardona feudatari di Calcabottaccio, nel Molise. Per il matrimonio di Antonio C. con Amelia Albini, anch'essa di famiglia Patrizia beneventana ultima del suo ramo, questi aggiunse, al propio, il cognome Albini, Gio. Battista C. ricevuto, nel S. M. ordine di Malta, priorato di Roma, nel 1513, probabilmente apparteneva ai C. di Benevento.
