Da quasi quattro secoli questa Famiglia si annovera fra le nobili. Uno de' suoi Maggiori, il Cavaliere Simon Carli, era nel 1430 Ambasciatore del Re di Francia Carlo VII. Nel 1716 la Reppublica Veneta per benemeremze creò Conti Stefano e Rinaldo, ordinando la descrizione dei loro nomi nell'aureo Libro dei Tiotolati. Il celebre Gian Rinaldi Carli padre del sotto descritto, era Presidente del Censo del Ducato di Milano, e venne dall'Imperatore Giuseppe II riconosciuto Conte e nominato Consiglier intimo di Stato. Sua Maestà I. R. A con Sovrana Risoluzione 12 luglio 1817 confermò il titolo di conte al sottonominato Agostino ed alla sua legittima discendenza.
